Navaratri Celebration- Sopana Sangeetham by Eloor Biju

Sopana Sangeetham is a traditional form of devotional music from Kerala, deeply rooted in temple rituals and associated with the worship of deities. Known for its meditative and serene pace, it employs unique ragas and is typically accompanied by the Edakka, a small drum. Unlike mainstream Indian classical music, Sopana Sangeetham follows a free structure with slow rhythms, making it distinct in its simplicity and spiritual depth. Traditionally performed in temples during early mornings and evenings, it remains a significant part of Kerala’s cultural and religious heritage, with exponents like Neralattu Rama Poduval preserving its legacy.
We , the staff and students of Sri Sai Vidya Vihar, Aluva was fortunate enough to have Shri Eloor Biju, a professional Sopana Sangeetham artist who visited our school during this Navarathri celebrations.
